But that 7/10 is like 8/10 graphics/music/writing, 6/10 dungeon crawling and 4/10 combat gameplay combination. Now that I'm almost done I'm gonna raise my opinion of this from a 6/10 to 7/10. A fast-forward button in the top right corner that adjusts battle speed by 2x and 3x Not taking away half your cast and instead giving you a larger party with options for who you want to useģ. About 3x the amount of useful combat skills so there's some variety.Ģ. I'm at the final boss now and I did an hour of grinding to get from 27-30 for grenade+ for ez for the 2nd to last's boss' attack, and grinding in sets of 40 enemies.those 40 enemy fights were so goddamn boring because of how slow they are.įor Fantasian to be a jrpg with good gameplay it would need three simple things:ġ. It's just odd because Fantasian tries to be progressive with stuff like the Dimengion taking away battles in dungeons and letting you group them, but then they completely ignore modern speed options and so clumping together all these fights takes just as long. I just came from finishing The Last Remnant and it beats the heck out of this game in turn-based fast-paced combat. I mean I can understand this from a character/story-writing/graphics instead of sprites point of view or even music,īut jrpg turn-based gameplay (especially combat) has gotten so much better in the last few decades and generally is deeper, more strategy, more fun and wastes less of the player's time. Pacing isn't very good, no thanks to the toy boxes, with the worst part easily being Way too much set battles/bosses considering said lack of battle options And considering you're always stuck to a set team, battles quickly become repetitive especially if you use the Dimengeon since you end up using the same Piercing or AoE attacks all the time Battle options/skill variety isn't very good. ? More of an Apple problem, but the ATV needs to be upgraded as the game absolutely cannot sustain 60 fps and thus feels much better to play on any iPad/iPhone from the last 3/4 years. I ended up finishing the game on my iPad, where this issue was less noticeable and performance was much better ? I'm surprised at how low-res the diorama sets sometimes are - playing this in 4K (on ATV) wasn't doing the game much favours. I'm pretty disappointed by most of the battle themes, but there are some GREAT tracks in there too. + Charming characters, thanks in good part to the very good text memories, less substantial but much better integrated in the game that 1000 years of dreams - for the best + The setting is interesting and I definitely want to see where the story is going Unless someone can find that mention on a game that made it out of the Apple ecosystem?Īnyway I finished this yesterday and sorted my thoughts a bit. Thought the same thing, I'd say this is stuck on AA.
